Activities

KHL delivers a variety of exercise classes, social groups, support groups and opportunities to develop skills. Take a look at our timetable to see how we can support you to make positive lifestyle changes and live a happier, healthier life.

Social groups

We understand the importance of building strong connections with others, and how having meaningful relationships can create a more positive mindset. We welcome new, and current faces to join the KHL community; attend one of our drop-in sessions or book on to a structured weekly social group. We’re here to support people that’re feeling lonely and isolated, and people who would like to fill their time with something different, or just good conversation.

Our social groups and courses have been developed to encourage conversation alongside different activities, people who attend can choose their level of involvement and the groups are a relaxed environment that ensure people feel comfortable and safe.

Exercise

When we exercise, our bodies release endorphins, also known as the happy hormone. The boost we feel after moving has a proven effect on our mental health.

KHL can support you to become more active, whether that’s making first steps to get moving, or finding a different type of exercise for a new challenge. We offer a huge variety of seated and cardio exercise classes throughout Keighley and beyond.

Support groups

People can find themselves in need of help and support at any point of life. We have been working in partnership with members of the community and similar organisations to develop a timetable of support groups that meet the needs of the community.

Our groups in and around Keighley, vary from light-touch support to more specific subjects for different communities with a focus on promoting social connections and allowing people to feel a sense of belonging with others that might have similar experiences to you, with the opportunity to learn more about how you are feeling and how to better manage the challenges of life.

Skills development

Developing our skillset is beneficial at any point of life. Whether it’s to gain a sense of purpose, take up a new hobby or to achieve a longer-term goal of employment. Alongside the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests, trying something new reduces stress levels, improves mindfulness and encourages confidence.

Additionally, our volunteering programme offers a variety of opportunities to learn new things and try new experiences whilst contributing to the KHL community.

Nutrition and food

At KHL, we know that the food you eat can affect you in many ways. By eating well, you can have more energy to see friends and to move more. Whether you’re hoping to learn to cook from scratch, reduce your consumption of ultra processed foods or learn new recipes, KHL can help.

Our Nutrition and Food sessions are tailored to cooks of all abilities and take place in our own fully equipped kitchen.
