We celebrated 25 years of Keighley Healthy Living at a special event on 30 September.
Nearly 200 people attended their building on Scott Street, Keighley. Attendees could learn more about the work and history of the charity, help to make a commemorative mosaic, attend an exercise taster session, enjoy the garden and sample some delicious food. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Melanie Hey, CEO of Keighley Healthy Living says, “We loved inviting everyone in for our 25 year celebration. It was great to see so many service users, volunteers and other professionals, and engage in many interesting conversations.
“It was a great opportunity to reflect on the growth of KHL and reminisce on the history of the organisation. It was fantastic to hear all the stories and the impact of KHL over the years.”
Attendees left their feedback about the event and said; “It was a really busy event, and it was good to meet other professionals and volunteers. There was plenty of information and I enjoyed finding out about what projects KHL have carried out over the years.”
“I liked the drop in aspects and that I could move around at my own pace. I really liked hearing the stories of those that are supported by KHL projects. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming – it always feels like a lovely place to be.”
Pam Essler, Chair, adds, “A big thank you to everyone for all the work that went into planning and supporting such a wonderful event. Not only did it showcase the present organisation but also provided an opportunity for people to reminisce and remember the past as well as plan for the future.
“We are so lucky to have such a strong supportive group of people working with us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Keighley Healthy Living began in 2001 with a small group of people meeting together to try and make Keighley a healthier place. It now employs more than 30 staff and delivers projects across Keighley and Bradford district, supporting people living with long-term health conditions, chronic pain, mental health challenges, maternal health needs, and those looking to improve their overall health and wellbeing. The charity achieves this by providing a variety of social activities, exercise groups and health coaching and wellbeing support.
The full timetable of activities can be found at www.khl.org.uk, call 01535 677177, or visit reception at their building on Scott Street Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm and Friday 9am to 3pm.
To further commemorate their 25-year milestone, the charity also planted a tree in the grounds of Cliffe Castle. The tree can be found above the play area near the benches and has a small plaque next to it that reads “Celebrating 25 years of community growth, Keighley Healthy Living 2026”.
